Privacy Policy

Who we are
AskBibleQuestions.com is operated by CONNECTMY.CHURCH LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the website, the Bible reader, the question-and-answer library, AI study tools, subscriptions, and ABQ tools embedded on other websites, and what you can ask us to do with it.
A word about the questions you ask
Questions people bring to the Bible can be deeply personal. We treat every question submitted to us — whether through a form or an AI Tool — as sensitive, pastoral information. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles about you. We keep it only as long as needed to answer, improve the Services, and meet legal obligations, and we apply stricter retention limits to AI conversations than to ordinary website data. AI conversation text is deleted or de-identified after 30 days.
What we collect
Information you give us: questions and feedback you submit; account details (name, email, password hash); billing details handled by our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers); and church administrator details for Church Licenses.
Information collected automatically: pages viewed, searches within the site, passage lookups, links clicked, approximate location from IP address, device and browser type, and the referring page. We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console for this.
AI Tools: the text of your question, the answer and sources shown, and technical signals such as response time and whether the tool declined to answer. AI processing is performed by third-party model providers under contracts that prohibit them from using your content to train their models.
The Memorization Coach: when you say a passage aloud, your browser records that short recitation and sends it to a third-party speech-recognition provider, which turns it into text so the coach can check your words. We do not keep the recording, and what you said is not saved once it has been checked; your score lasts only for that visit. The provider is bound by terms that prohibit using your audio to train its models, and may hold it for a short period to monitor for abuse. To keep the coach from being overused, we keep a one-way coded form of your internet address for one day. The coaches’ voices are computer-generated. You can use the coach by typing instead of speaking.
The Connect My Bible plugin: websites that run our free Bible plugin collect a copy of our published answers and our topic list from us once a day. That request comes from the website’s own server, not from the people reading it, so we see which website asked, as any server log would show, and nothing about its visitors. Reading the Bible, opening a verse preview or changing a reading preference on one of those websites sends nothing to us. If you follow a link from one of them to AskBibleQuestions.com, this policy applies from that point on.
Memorizing lists: a memorizing list you make is kept in its link, not on our servers. Opening that link asks us for the text of those passages, as reading any page does, and nothing more.
Embedded tools on church websites: when you use ABQ tools on a church’s website, we receive the same usage and question data described above, together with an identifier for that church. We provide the church with aggregate usage statistics only, never the text of individual questions or the identity of individual users, unless you have created an account with that church and chosen to share it.
Why we use it
To provide and improve the Services; to answer your questions; to operate accounts, subscriptions, and Church Licenses; to keep the Services secure and prevent abuse; to measure which content helps people; to meet legal obligations; and, with your consent, to send you email updates.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for login and security and analytics cookies to understand site use. You can control cookies in your browser; blocking analytics cookies does not affect reading the site.
The Bible reader remembers a few reading preferences in your own browser’s storage: your text size, the last chapter you read, whether you chose the light or dark version, whether the original-language tools are switched on, which Bible text you chose to read in (for example the World English Bible, Hebrew or Greek), which narrator you chose for the audio Bible, which voice reads passage references aloud, and whether read-along highlighting is switched on. While a browser tab stays open it also remembers the reading speed you chose and where you placed the audio player; these are cleared when the tab is closed. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.
Children
The Services are intended for general audiences, and church embeds may be used by congregants of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental or church-administrator consent. If you believe a child has provided us information without consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise these rights from your account settings or by contacting us; we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Retention
Account data: while your account is open and for 12 months after. Billing records: as required by tax law. AI conversations: see above. Analytics: up to 14 months in Google Analytics. Submitted questions used for published answers are kept in de-identified form.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, multi-factor authentication for administrators, and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information we will notify you as the law requires.
International use
The Services are operated from the United States. If you use them from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.
Changes
We will post updates here with a new effective date and notify account holders of material changes.
